Educatudieta con / with Michelle Obama

A mi personalmente me encanta...

Good morning family!

The other day I was wearing my apron near the stoves job when the phone rang, it was my mother, my faithful reporter (sometimes I am so busy that I forget what happens in the world) and my best publicist, and she told me the following story.

Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States of America has become aware of the overwhelming Childhood Obesity rate in America, and put his picture on a rap album with songs that promote healthy eating. The campaign, called "Let's Move" and the album's songs such as "UR what you eat" (you are what you eat).

And although I am not an expert on American Affairs, I will leave that to the great humorist Goyo Jimenez, I recommend from here the importance of the "laught" in the diet, and his monologues and performances are spectacular.

I lose the focus!, For that, despite I am not an expert on American affairs, there is something I envy Americans, his spirit "YES, WE CAN". With permission from John Lennon leave the "Imagine" on one side and put Patty Smith as soundtrack "People have the power" and get down to work.

Educatudieta has no boundaries, and we want to collaborate with this initiative to improve the nutrition  of children and adults who reach our voice.

And as when I heard the news I was near the stoves I decided to do a couple of experiments to make for children or adults who, like a good friend would say, "the only green they touch is the beer, "ENJOY eating vegetables.

Who does not enjoy a potato omelette? I personally love it... How you feel if we replace total / partial potato for zucchini? What do you think? Delicious!

While the zucchini does not add much flavor, hence how easy it is to include it in the diets poor in vegetables, we can mask the taste for most palates, adding cheese, which will provide more flavor and creaminess.

Egg, zucchini, onion (to taste) and cheese ..... A delicious quiche!!

¡GREAT SUCCESS!

"El tamaño siempre importa" / "Size does matter"

Adult Obesity around the world (IASO)

"Size does matter, it always matters". No doubt one of the main reasons why obesity rates have skyrocketed in the XXI century is the distorting in the portion sizes of food.

Since the 50s, the size of the portions increased about 6 times, for example, in the case of soft drinks, increasing the number of calories ingested. A bucket of popcorn, as we see in the picture, because of its increased size, has tripled the calories.

Knowing that those 50 years have also meant: the majority incorporation of women to work, full-time job (lunch at work, and usually not homemade), the presence of one or two cars per family, a more sedentary lifestyle, stress... This has led to some disastrous eating habits, increasing the number of servings large or "big / king size" ingested, and therefore an increase in obesity.

Adult Obesity around the world (IASO)

As we have read in other posts, this fact is alarming especially in children,

Growing Portion Sizes
As shown in this image, the sizes in soft drinks of an international fast food chain, the portion sizes even vary depending on the country. In this picture we see as the ration of "soda" for children is almost equal to the "S" size of an adult in America and the "M" size of an adult in Japan!

Diet should be special for every stage of life, child, adult, elderly, pregnant... Even for our pets, if we do not care the diet of our family, we will suffer its consequences.

"La familia" from Botero (Even the cat has Obesity)

In 2006, the Ministry of Health prohibits advertising of "burgers XXL" from Burger King company for not meeting the agreements of the "NAOS Strategy",a strategy that controls large catering companies, for the prevention of obesity, which seeks to promote nutrition education and sport in favor of a sedentary lifestyle and obesity.

AESAN & Burger King

Each hamburgers provides 917 kcal, nearly 50% of the kilocalories a teenager needs in a day. If we add to the hamburguer, sugary soda and chips, it would be more than 75% of kcal you need for a day, and only in an intake / food!

Let us take back the control of our food,
the size of our portions and our eating habits!

Here, I show a table of recommended rates for a balanced diet.
